FESTIVAL PROMISES FIREWORKS

MBABANE – This year’s Francophonie Festival is promising to be fireworks.   Every year in March, Alliance Francaise all around the world, echoes the promotion of Francophonie and organises free events to celebrate the French Language and cultural diversity.


 Alliance Francaise de Mbabane has been organising the Francophonie week for the past five years. This year they will be bringing fun activities and amazing music as the main day will be on March 23.
 The festival was confirmed during a press briefing held at their head offices yesterday.


 The Francophonie week will be starting with the primary school festival on March 15 at Mater Dolorosa (MDS) School hall. This will be followed by the high school festival on March 22.
 Director of Alliance Francaise de Mbabane Valérie Munier, said that more that 30 primary schools and 20 high schools have responded positively.

 “For this occasion we invited all schools who teach French in the four regions of the kingdom, to allow all the pupils learning French to experience the language out of the classroom,” she said.
 The schools festival with have programmes that will allow children to develop a social bond through artistic practices.
On March 20, which is the day of Francophonie, Alliance Francaise will be offering karaoke evening.


 “This event will also provide cultural diversity and will tie in with orality,” said Munier.
 Many artists will be present and will provide the audience with mind blowing sets. Munier said that the main stage would feature bands such as Trumpet, and will be graced by poets like Skeel and many more.


 Rap gurus will be also given a chance to be part of the rap contest, with participants competing for an amazing opportunity at the MTN Bushfire stage.
