MBABANE – Building Studies student Nosisa Lukhele and Office Management and Technology student Lihle Maseko were named SCOT’s freshest queen and king.

The pair were crowned last Friday night during the college’s annual Fresher’s ball event held at the Multi-purpose hall. The beauty queen and king welcomed their new titles with tears just after 1am and some members of the excited crowd rushed to the stage and lifted the winners in the air. Maseko is also the founder of the hottest clothing line, Slqm, a brand that is among the most popular in the country, especially with the youth. Maseko shed tears and covered his eyes with his hand when he was announced the winner. The hall was suddenly filled with joy, dance and piercing house music from the DJ booth.

The lively event was dominated by dance moves and melodic screams of excitement from both the audience and participants on stage. Leading the energetic audience in displaying dance moves were Sabelo ‘Eazy’ Ndlela and Ziyanda Nxumalo, who played hosts. Coming back to the crowning, out of the 68 females and 68 males who had joined the beauty competition, two more females and males walked away with titles. Crowd favourite Bongekile Simelane, an Office Management and Technology student, scooped the First Princess crown while Kiefer Smith joined her as the First Prince title holder.

The Second Prince title went to Siphosakhe Sambo, who proved to be popular while parading alongside Bongekile Simelane, throughout the event. Completing the list was Nosipho Dlamini with the Second Princess crown.  Simelane and Sambo were further awarded the Best Dressed Couple prize. After scooping the coveted crown of being the freshest beauty queen, Lukhele said it was a precious and nerve-wrecking moment. “Being crowned queen was the most amazing feeling ever. I was overwhelmed with excitement and it felt surreal. It is a moment that has taught me that I shouldn’t underestimate my potential but expect the best. This is a moment I will cherish forever,” she said.
