THE GORGEOUS PHOTOSHOOT FETISH

Thanks to the pressures of social media, especially Instagram, people are increasingly engaging in creative photoshoots and they are oozing the ‘model’ and beauty in every scene.

Photoshoots are increasingly becoming a norm and local photographers are nailing it in terms of producing lovely pictures.
Taking pictures during weddings and other big ceremonies is becoming a thing of the past as people are doing photoshoots every day.
STYLE was curious as to why people, especially ladies, are engaging in these and we got a beautiful sassy lady from Mbabane to enlighten us.

Who is Tema?

Temansele Palesa Mkoko is originally from Mafutseni but I grew up in Mpolonjeni where I was raised by my mother and stepfather. I have seven siblings; two from my mother  (beautiful twins), and five from my father’s side. I went to Imphumelelo Primary School then St Francis for both my secondary and high school education. Currently, I’m studying Psychology at Eswatini Medical Christian University.

Generally, what do pictures mean to you and what kind of sentimental hold do they have over you?

Pictures mean memories, I’m the kind of person who likes to capture every moment before I start living it, so I can look back at memories months and years later. Actually, I think I’m 10 selfies away from being a camera addict lol.

But most importantly, photoshoots make me feel like I’m living my dream of being a model (not a ramp model but more of advertising clothes model). Local brand owners hit your girl up, lol. I used to dream about it ever since I was a child, wearing my mother’s heels and wigs then ask her to take pictures of me. Photoshoots make me feel like one day I’ll get there.

Before doing a photoshoot, what concept do you have on them?
I never really have any concepts, I just bring myself and the photographer always has something in mind for the day and I try my best to execute his ideas very well.

What triggered you to have a photoshoot?

Apart from my love of being in front of the camera, with Pumba I did a birthday photoshoot. The both of us come a long way when it comes to pictures so I felt like he was the best person to ask so he can capture a very special day in my life.

With Zwide, I think  he’s one of the most amazing photographers in the country, so I’ve always wanted to be captured by him and Mbulelo always says ‘Everybody deserves a portrait’ so I didn’t want to be left out, lol.

What are fundamentals to consider when going for a shoot?

Outfit changes, this one time I went to a photoshoot with just one outfit and I felt like I robbed myself from getting a variety of pictures, but the outfit is dependent on the location, it needs to be in line with the location and the concept of the photographer.

The feeling after the shoot, please explain to STYLE...
I’m always excited; I get a certain kind of euphoria every time I take beautiful pictures. The whole experience genuinely makes me happy

Where do you mainly use the pictures from the photoshoot?

I use them on my social media pages. I’m hoping to one day use them on a professional level, like a magazine spread or more.

Lastly, would you encourage others to do a photoshoot?

Yes I would, so they can celebrate their uniqueness. Photoshoots do wonders for your self-esteem. We are actually in luck because we have a lot of amazing photographers in the country so get any of them to capture a moment, or better yet an important event.
