MBABANE - Ever wondered how your favourite celebs looked 10 years ago? Social media was abuzz when pictures of what some local celebrities looked like 10 years ago started surfacing after the hashtag #2008vs2018 challenge started trending last Sunday afternoon.

The hashtags #2008Vs2018 and #HowHardDidAgeHitYou were trending on Twitter on Sunday and local celebs joined in on the fun by posting snaps of themselves from 10 years ago positioned with a recent photo to show how much they have changed over the years.

The hashtag urged for users to post a photo from the year 2008 and one from 2018 and let others judge how they have aged. A few of the country’s celebs have taken it up with funny, amazing and interesting results.

In the lead was none other than comedian Dr Shakes, who has seen his followers crowning him the king of memes in the past few months due to his hilarious pictures with captions he constantly shares on his social network accounts such as Twitter and Facebook.

Funny

Instead of posting pictures of himself 10 years ago, Dr Shakes brought a funny twist to the challenge as he picked pictures of famous celebrities who supposedly look like him.

In the series of posts he shared on Twitter and Facebook, celebrities such as musician King Monada and international comedian and actor Chris Rock dominated his timeline.

A male who rose to fame after appearing on a Chicken Licken TV advert also made it to the list as he was said to be a look-alike of the local comedian.
Soon after sharing the series of posts, the exciting challenge gained momentum which made it clear that the funny man’s popularity was ruling the internet

.
Invited

His posts have previously taken the South African entertainment industry by storm, to a point that he had to be invited for a brief appearance on SABC’s TBT programme, which airs every Thursday.

The comedian said he loved the challenge and was also having fun with his followers as they appreciated his creative posts.
Other local entertainers who joined Dr Shakes in this funny trend consisted of rap artist Illa Penboy and comedian Ndosh. The rapper posted an old picture of himself next to a recent snap.
