MBABANE – Tusko D is just taking South African hip hop show by show. Barely a year after Eswatini-born rap analyst and presenter Thulani ‘Tusko D’ Maseko’s showdown with South African rapper Cassper, he has made a comeback by being revealed as the official show for ‘One Of The Culture’, a hip hop show which will be aired on South Africa’s Zkhiphani.

Zkhiphani is an online social lifestyle magazine that targets the South African youth. The term ‘zkhiphani’ is loosely translated as ‘what’s happening’, a phrase used by many people of all ages and tribes across South Africa, more especially black youth when seeking information such as news and the latest social happenings. Initially online only, in March 2014, Zkhiphani launched a glossy print edition.

With his expertise being in the hip hop industry, Tusko D will be presenting a show which elaborates on the Urban Street Culture, also known as the hip hop culture and artists under such.

Premier

Maseko confirmed this development in his life, stating that the show was supposed to premier on December 30 last year but due to technical problems, it will air towards the end of January.
“I currently have another show called Tusko’s Court on Slikouronlife. So I was out with the Slikouronlife (SOL) team one day and I bumped into one of the Zkhiphani founders and they showed me love and asked if I would be open to doing a hip hop debate show with them. I said yes and the rest is history,” said Maseko, while elaborating on how he was made a presenter on this internationally renowned platform.

Maseko further said he hoped that just like the other shows on his YouTube channel, this one becomes one of the biggest hip hop shows in Southern Africa if not the whole continent.
“Career-wise, my goal is to grow. So long as I am growing and inspiring others to pursue their goals especially Swazi youth, I am happy,” he said.
In the meantime, South African rapper Gigi Lamayne congratulated Tusko D’s developments, stating that he was the best in the industry on her social media pages.

Attention

Maseko has managed to get the attention of South African rappers and thanks to his analytic videos which he airs on YouTube.
Tusko D, the 25-year-old liSwati is not new in hip hop as before he was an analyst, he was a rapper himself since he was at KaZakhali High School.
While at university, the blogger playfully posted a video where he was analysing South African hip hop and it got more than 10 000 views in one day, and that is how his name, Tusko D, rose to fame.

He has been officially named as the ‘DJ of academics of SA Hip Hop’ or ‘The Hip Hop Analyst’ and this title has lent him a position at Rawbust Productions as an anchor who interviews artists during shows.
