MBABANE - What promised to be a show of dance and hop ended up being an ‘empty’ filled day.

Hip hop music lovers who bought tickets to the flopped annual Storm Dance Competition have been recalled by the organisers to claim their ticket money. Tickets to the event which was going to be headlined by South African rapper Emtee, real name Mthendeni Ndevu, cost E50. The show was slated for the Prince of Wales Sports Ground last Saturday and attendees were disappointed that by 11pm, the competition had not started and the ‘Roll Up’ hit maker had not made it to the show. The show was hosted by Swazi Hood Culture.

Swazi Hood Culture’s Thabo Motsa, who was part of the organising committee, said they were let down by those who were supposed to set up the stage. “We cancelled the show because the one who was supposed to install the stage was nowhere to be found. When I tried reaching at 2pm he said he was on his way and by 4pm, he was not picking up my calls,” explained Motsa. He then apologised to all ticket holders and said his team was working around the clock to reimburse them their monies. “They must come with their ticket. We are yet to announce the dates in which they will be able to get their money back as some was used for the running expenses of the show,” he said.

Change

He said Emtee was on his way when he was informed of the sudden change of events. “We are still to host this event on another date,” he said. Those who wish to claim their ticket monies are urged to contact 7673 7645. When reached for comment on being returned back, Emtee’s manager was not reachable. Noteworthy is that the rapper had not posted the event on his social media page as per the norm with celebrities who are coming to perform in the country. This, however, is not to suggest that he was not slated to perform in the country on the said date.

This competition had seen the registration of 16 groups which include both men and women between the ages of 16 to 28 years of age and they would be battling it out for different prizes during these finals. The main aim of this competition was to make all the Eswatini youth see how their talent is valued and to encourage all those who are passionate about dancing to continue taking it seriously.
