CHICO, SMADJ ‘ELECTRIFY’ THE THEATRE CLUB

MBABANE - The sounds of guitar strings and electro music sounds that echoed the Eswatini Theatre Club were electrifying.

This was last Thursday where the beautiful city of Mbabane saw the performance of Mozambican legendary duo Chino Antonio and Smadj for close to two hours. The event dubbed ‘Electro Chico Tour’ was hosted by Alliance Francaise de Mbabane and it was attended by close to 70 music lovers who were attentive to every song.

The show featured the performance of Eswatini-born artist Mbali, who had a magical voice that captured the music lovers. Behind the production was Eswatini’s very own music producer Ralph Smit. The tour was a once-in-a-lifetime performance by legendary Mozambican singer Chico António and Smadj, whose dynamic music is set to transform Mozambican music.
This concert was intended to bring eclectic futuristic sounds to Eswatini and it did just that. The songs, which were performed, mainly constituted of chants and ‘tongues’.

The event was motivated by the partnership between Alliance Francaise de Mbabane and Central Culturel Franco Mozambican (CCFM) who are both under the French Embassy.
