MBABANE - Is commercial house and gqom music the new musical coup?

South African veteran DJs and music producers Fresh and Fistaz Mixwell displayed that gqom and commercial house are ‘thee’ trending music by dishing nothing but those sounds. Gqom and commercial house music are known to be party starters and for their beats with a high BPM (beats per minute, a measurement of tempo in music) and it is normally loved by fun lovers. This happened at Solani’s Shisanyama at Msunduza in Mbabane last Saturday night in a party dubbed ‘All White Affair’. DJ Fresh, the ‘Stay Real’ and ‘The Girl You Lost To Cocaine’ hit maker climbed to the stage at midnight, where he rendered his best to over 2 500 fans who were keen to see him perform. The Botswana-born DJ last performed in the country over two years ago and many were wowed by seeing him climbing to the stage. He was clad in his ‘All White’ outfit as per the theme of the night. He rendered popular songs including ‘Skeleton Move’ by Master KG ‘Eyadini’ by Manqoqo, ‘Banomoya’ by Busiswa, ‘Ses’fikile’  by Tipcee. These songs got many dancing and screaming in happiness for the DJ.

After a 50-minute set, he gave way to South Africa’s renowned deep house music DJ, Fistaz Mixwell, stating that they are best friends who come far musically. The two DJs embraced each other on stage and shared a light moment in front of revellers.
Immediaetly after their sentimental moment, Fistaz Mixwell took over the decks and also dished out commercial house. After 30 minutes, DJ Fresh took over the decks again until 3.30am and after that South Africa’s DJ Sumbody took over until 3.50am.
Eswatini’s very own DJ MBO proved why he went to Las Vegas by setting the venue on fire until the crack of dawn where revellers danced frantically to his awesome tracks. The liSwati was also the highlight of the night; evident by the dance floor which was flocked during his set.

On another note, Khanyi Mbau’s ‘Tjovitjo’ whistle proved that she was not about jokes but serious fun! South African actor, singer, personality and MC Khanyi Mbau, who was the host of the day, was a marvel to watch. She got on stage at 1:20am, around the time Fistaz Mixwell was performing and started dancing and blowing amazing whistles. She greeted the crowd and told the crowd that they were beautiful. “Eswatini is a beautiful place and you are lovely,” said the personality who is also a diva.
She entertained the crowd until the wee hours of the morning as well.
