MBABANE – Miss University Africa finalist Nonhlanhla Mkhonta scooped three awards during the competition in Nigeria.

When she left the country on November 14, her biggest prayer was to leave a mark at the competition and make the Kingdom of Eswatini proud. It only took the current Miss Intervarsity First Princess one night before the actual competition, to bag an award on Best Presentation Video.

The competition was held on Friday, however, a day before that, Mkhonta walked away with the award after her presentation video was rated as the best.
The video was based on the social work the contestants did during their two weeks stay in Nigeria.
Her other two awards were the President’s Award and Social work video award, which she scooped during the main ceremony on Friday. The eventual winner of the ceremony was Marlise Sacur of Mozambique.

Excited

The excited finalist returned yesterday morning and was welcomed back by the President of Pageants Eswatini, Catrien Potgieter. The president said they were proud of what the beauty queen had done.
“On Thursday, the day before the final, there was the award ceremony and when they called my name for the first award, I was excited.

“ I could not believe it when I ended up winning three awards, especially when I got the President’s award, which means I was one of the most well-behaved queens on camp.
