MATSAPHA – At least over 500 fun lovers shook off the bad weather in style at the Deja Vu Cocktail Lounge.

This as the rain did not stop fun lovers from attending in numbers last Saturday where the Major League DJs headlined Culolam’s birthday celebration. The revellers got their money’s worth as the headliners delivered an hour-long solid performance that kicked off with gqom music tunes before the duo shifted to hip hop hit songs.

However, it was the performance of Mac Breezy from South Africa that got everyone going wild after taking to the turntables just after the celebrated twins, who are also from South Africa.

infused

The spinner dished out the latest tunes and infused them with old school hip hop and pop music. It is his mixing skills and song selection that saw the crowd flocking to the main dance floor and even taking it further by capturing his energetic performance from their mobile phones.

He dished out hit songs such as ‘Fela in Versace’ by AKA, ‘Spirit’ by Kwesta and also brought a different feel to his set by infusing it with ‘Suited’ by Shekhinah. He also performed for an hour. Following the amazing reception he received, Mac Breezy said he knew fun lovers were expecting a great set from him since there was so much hype about his coming.

“The crowd was looking forward to a fire set as they were talking about me even before I arrived. I was left with no choice but to give out the best of me. I really appreciated the feedback and the love that people gave me,” he said.

energetic

On the night, the show had two dance floors. On the gqom and house music dance floor, local DJ Matamza stole the show with an energetic two-hour long performance that came with dance moves and amazing mixing skills from the spinner.

The spinner said he wanted to give the crowd what they wanted, which was a great time. Another top performer on the decks was DJ So What and the duo of Drum Rhythm. DJ Metallic of the Scientists said he was amazed by both Mac Breezy and Matamza.
