ESWATINI’S YOUNGEST AUTHOR RELEASES NOVEL

MBABANE – The idiom ‘dynamite comes in small packages’ is being proven, over and again, to be true.

Bandiswa Vilane, a 19-year-old University of KwaZulu Natal student, from Eswatini, has also proven the latter idiom to be true by writing and releasing a book titled ‘Broken Affections’. The book was released three weeks ago after being written and published two years ago. The author, who is a former Sifundzani pupil who is currently studying BSc in Economics, Statistics and Industrial Psychology, said her love for arts motivated her to write the book.

Dream

“In general, I love arts and I am a visual artist too. Creativity from poetry to writing is my passion. ‘‘Writing a book has always been my dream and the feedback from my blog ‘Diary yaZamo’ inspired me into going as far as writing a whole book,” the young writer told this publication. Bandiswa also said the title was motivated by the storyline itself and the events of the plot. The storyline in the book is about a 28-year-old psychologist who was born and bred in Eswatini and she finds herself having so many accomplishments in the United States of America but it is nothing that she truly wants.

Bandiswa said the book goes through the events of this young black woman’s life in a foreign environment trying to go through life and run away from her past only to discover her past lives inside of her. “Her past binds her, wherever she goes,” Bandiswa explained.

Entertained

She said she hoped people were not only entertained by the book but also relate and choose a better path in their lives. Currently she is being hailed on the UKZN blog as one of their youngest publishers and recently appeared at the Imbokodvo Poetry Show which is on YouTube daily as a guest. The book was financed by the author, with no assistance from any sponsor. The book is E200 and it is currently sold on Amazon, a website which sells online. It was published by B Matsenjwa Publishers who are based in the country. Bandiswa is currently writing another book which will be published next year and she is also compiling a poetry book that will be published at the end of this year.
