MBABANE – The emergence of new choirs is proof that choral music is thriving and developing in the country.

A new choral music choir known as Pure Voices has made itself heard and will formally be launched on September 28, 2018 at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini.
This information was revealed by Pure Voices Public Relations Officer Celimphilo Dlamini, who also said that it will be the first time for the choir to declare being officially born after being established last year in October.

Pure Voices is the brainchild of conductors Gabazi and Siphiwokuhle Nxumalo and it has  already performed at the Standard Bank Choral Competitions this year after commencing their practicing sessions in February.
“People have knowledge about us but we saw it fit to make our presence public and in an event format so people can know who we are and what we are about,” said Dlamini.

The choir is based in Mbabane and constitutes choristers who mainly reside in the Mbabane-Manzini corridor. However, a few choristers from Nhlangano as well as Pigg’s Peak also form part of the choir.

Dlamini said anyone is eligible to join the choir but they will undergo vocal auditions as quality is important .
Eswatini National Choral Music Association (ENCMA) Chairperson Sihle Gumbi said they were proud to see that new choirs were being formed.
“As ENCMA, we are really pleased to see new choirs coming in.
“We are really encouraged because as new choirs are being established, the probability of growth and development of choral music in the country will grow,” said Gumbi.
He urged choral music lovers to support the launch.
“Not only should they support the launch but other choral music activities.
Currently, choir membership stands at 60 and the choir mainly constitutes of young, aspiring and growing choristers.
