MBABANE – The Swazi Rally team is keeping their promise of making this year’s church service  bigger at the home of bikers in Eswatini.

The Swazi Rally, which is slated for this coming weekend starting on August 31 to September 2, will see the presence of biker Bishop Joshua Maponga III. He will be gracing and leading the church service in prayer and sermon.
The service is set for the Sunday morning at the Swazi Rally to be held at Riders Ranch  in Sidvokodvo.

Maponga is a celebrity bishop who is based in South Africa and he is also an avid biker, making him a great choice for the service.
His presence was confirmed by Swazi Rally Pioneer Carlos Paiva, who said they were happy to reveal the bishop will be leading the service.

Bigger

This new information comes as no surprise as it was revealed, during the Swazi Rally 2018 launch two months ago, that this year’s Swazi Rally is prepared to make their Sunday church service bigger and more recognisable than the previous years. “Everyone wanted to know who the pastor for the day would be, especially because bikers have been misrepresented as unruly and their behaviour not very Christian. So we are glad to change that perception and show everyone that biking is a passion followed by people from all walks of life,” said Paiva.

In his speech during the launch, Paiva highlighted that during the past three years, they held intimate Sunday church services but it was time to make it bigger.
This year,  attendees can expect a brass band that will be performing during the service and to also meet with local biker pastors. These pastors will share with everyone how they enjoy their biking passion without  alcohol and every ungodly tendencies associated with bikers.

“People, and some attendees of the Swazi Rally, were not aware that we do have pastors who are bikers and they will be revealed on that day. Motorcyclists also do conform to God’s teachings,” added Paiva.
The morning prayers are meant to plead for safety especially because there have always been numerous accidents that result in death during the Swazi Rally period. Paiva said  he hoped this year would be different and pleaded with bikers to not drink and ride, while motorists are also urged to be cautious of riders on the road. Some Eswatini pastors, who are also bikers, include Paul Fortune and Bongani Simelane, who is also a gospel music artist.
Simelane, who is also the Eswatini Christian Motorcyclists Association Co-Director, said they were excited when they learnt that this year’s service was going to be made bigger and better.

Logistics

“Actually, Paiva made us aware about this initiative and he has incorporated us in the planning process. We are assisting with logistics and we can not wait for the weekend to begin,” said Simelane.
He also said it had always been their prayer as Christian motorcyclists to have such a service hosted during the Swazi Rally.
“Behind a biker is a person who still has to live and do so rightly,” he said.

Also confirming the dates for this year’s Swazi Rally to this publication was Riders Ranch Communications Officer Banele Dlamini, who also stated that this year’s rally would be special.
“A lot will be different this year because we will be celebrating 25 years and we are growing as a brand,” said Dlamini.
