NO UNDER 18’S AT SWAZI RALLY 2018

MBABANE – ‘Owl’ hours in a good party only caters for adults! This year’s Swazi Rally has outlined and is adamant on a rule that no under 18s will be allowed inside the venue of the home of bikers in the country.


This was firmly said by Swazi Rally Pioneer Carlos Paiva, who stated that attendees below the age of 18 years would have to vacate the premises after 6pm.
“It is logic that there is a lot of imbibing, especially at night and it is unethical for children to be in such a venue. Actually, it is against the law that citizens under the age of 18 are caught in a drinking spot so the strengthening of this rule,” said Paiva.


He said that as Riders Ranch, the home of the growing annual Swazi Rally, they were bound to follow rules as they were an entity that observed the law.It is also no secret that bikers are free spirited individuals and most of the games that take place at night are of a very strong adult theme.  Every year over 10 000 bikers come from as far as Namibia, South Africa, Botswana and Lesotho to participate in the rally.


This year’s rally will be celebrating 25 years as it was established in 1993 and close to 10 000 bikers are expected to attend.
Recently, South African six piece band known as Ice ‘n Fire was added to the line-up of the event which is slated for August 31 to September 2,2018.
This addition to the line-up was confirmed by Riders Ranch Communications Officer Banele Dlamini.


The band has been added to South African DJ and music producer Prince Kaybee, who is currently trending, especially after dropping his ‘Club Contolla’ hit early this year.


Other forms of entertainment will be from local DJs, including Lolo, Zoe, MBO and many more.
Currently, early bird tickets are retailing at E250 and they will be sold at E300 after August 25,2018.
 “We urge people to get their tickets promptly as it can be an inconvenience to queue at the entrance points during that weekend, especially since we are expecting greater numbers this year,” said Dlamini.


Chief Police Information and Communications Officer Superintendent Khulani Mamba said, “Just like last year, we will be vigilant.”
He said they were going to be on guard and on the lookout for any illegal activities. “Like last year, our team will be strict on maintain law and order.
“Under aged drinking is not allowed and we will be strict and on the lookout for that,” said Mamba.


Last year, the police were strict on drink-drivers and sex workers.
“We will be more vigilant this year,” said Mamba.
