18-YEAR-OLD CROWNED MISS PIGG’S PEAK

 PIGG’S PEAK – Nokukhanya Vilakati (18) has been crowned Miss Pigg’s Peak 2018/19.


She takes over from Bongiwe Mthethwa, who has been the reigning queen of the town since 2017.
The 2018/19 contest was held on Saturday at the Gobolondlo Hall where throngs of fun lovers came to watch the contestants as they paraded in various outfits.
Nokukhanya, who said she was upgrading some of the subjects, said she was excited to be crowned Miss Pigg’s Peak.


She said she would use the opportunity to highlight challenges that the town faced such as unemployment especially of the youth.
Nokukhanya also said she would help highlight the plight of the needy so that they could be assisted by those who were more fortunate.

The first Princess was Sindi Vilakati, recently completed high school and is expected to enrol in universities.
She said wanted to pursue a career as a Social Worker.
The second Princess, Lindokuhle Mbatha, is employed at the Pigg’s Peak Branch of Standard Bank.


Mbatha said she was also excited to be crowned the second princess, adding that she was hoping to work with the reigning queen to help alleviate the negative socio-economic challenges in the community. Event organisers Kwazi Masimula and Mathokoza Dlamini said they were excited that the event continued to draw large crowds every year.


The duo has been hosting the event since 2016.
As it has become a tradition, the flamboyant Frankie Dlamini was the programme director and kept the crowd entertained with his comments about some of the men.


When introducing the popular dance group, Dynamic Groovers, Frankie described them as ‘yummy’.
He also referred to the DJ as yummy.
