About Vinny Da Vinci

Vinny da Vinci really is a DJ whose credentials are unquestionable, and who’s still at the cutting edge of South African house music and culture, two decades after his debut as a DJ. When one talks about the veterans of DJing, the name Vinny da Vinci ranks among the best in the industry.

Born Vincent Motshegoa and raised in a very musical family in Atteridgeville, Pretoria, Vinny developed a strong liking for compiling and mixing. He prepared tapes to play at house parties and school functions, and because he didn’t have the necessary equipment, he had to use the cut-and-paste formula.

Motivation and perseverance have seen Vinny go from working in a clothing store to being labelled one of the best DJs in Mzansi. “Sometimes we don’t get what we want at the first go, but if you really want something, you work hard until you get it,” said Vinny.
