MANZINI – At just 15 years of age, beautiful Lusanda Nkambule is the new Miss Teen Manzini 2018!

The cream of the crop of Manzini came out in full glitz and glam last Saturday at The George Hotel, for a chance to be crowned the fairest of them all. The event started at noon and ended at 5pm, with the MC being Miss Teen Swaziland 2017, Tyra Johnson. The make-up, the hair, the shoes and of course the dresses! The young beauties all came out in full force with their ‘Fashion A-game,’in a bid to snatch that crown. Unfortunately for the other 11 girls, Nkambule, Fezile Matsebula and Ziyanda Mngomezulu came out on top, with the queen, first princess and second princess titles, respectively. The judges who had the tough job of selecting just three girls from the rest were Miss Cultural Heritage Nelsiwe Shongwe, Miss Swaziland Linda Hutchinson and Chief Executive Officer of Reign Entertainment Emmanuel Kom.

The 14 contestants who took part were aged between 15 -18 years old. Starting off the pageant was the casual wear runway walk where the audience made up mainly of family members cheered them on. This was followed by the evening wear section, where they were then all asked different questions by the judges. It is from this exercise that the top five were selected, who were Nkambule, Matsebula, Mngomezulu, Olwethu and Vusile. The top five then went through their nerve-wrecking question and answer session with the judges. After about 10 minutes of deliberation, the judges announced their winners. Speaking to the newly-crowned Miss Teen Manzini Nkambule, she admitted that she knew she would win because of how hard she had worked to prepare for the pageant. “I realised that I had a good chance of winning today because when I walked onto that runway, I became someone else. I was all about a positive mind and attitude and simple told myself, ‘The crown was mine’,” she said.

Nkambule went on to state that having been crowned Miss Teen Manzini 2018, she would begin leading by example for all the girls her age, not only in Manzini but in the Kingdom of Eswatini in its entirety. She further stated that her friends did not think she would win but that did not stop this young beauty from accomplishing her set goal.
