‘TEZ’; FROM MODEL TO BUSINESSWOMAN

The generation of money makers is on the rise, regardless of the age.  Money makes the world go round and today’s youth is inhibiting the spirit of entrepreneurship, just like the beautiful, bold and sassy Tez!

At just 20 years of age, Tezulu has accomplished more than what some of her age-mates only dream about. After being signed to Pulse Models Swaziland, founded by Khanyakezwe Mamba, Tezulu’s modelling career took off and her love for fashion and the ramp blossomed.

Although this young vivacious 20-year-old’s modelling career came to a halt after resigning from Pulse, her drive and passion has kept her moving forward with her goals.
Even though she started off as a model, Tezulu admitted that her one true love has always been photography.
“In all honesty, I enjoy referring to myself as an artist. I love art in all its forms, I’ve always been an artistic person, since pre-school,” she said.

In an effort to feed her passion for the arts, Tezulu has established her own nail business called ‘honey who did your nails’ where she thrives in tapping into her artistic side, beautifully decorating her clients’ nails.
Speaking to the young businesswoman, she attributed her entrepreneurial spirit to her loving parents who have taught her the importance of hard work.

“My mum has been my backbone through all of it. She was the one who encouraged me to do everything I’ve accomplished thus far,” said Tezulu.
“None of my siblings are couch potatoes and I’m grateful to my father for taking an interest in my ideas and warming up to them,” she added.

How and when were you first introduced into the world of modelling?
It was all a joke, well to me. My friends and colleagues from time to time would ask why I was not a model, because apparently I had what it took and that I would definitely thrive. I would just laugh it off. My mum, on the other hand, would tell me to always take chances, risks and opportunities, so I decided why not. Luckily, that all came at a time when Pulse Models was conducting their first ever auditions around early 2016. My mum said ‘go for it girl!’ and I did.

What made you fall in love with modelling?
I won’t say I fell in love with modelling, but it kind of fell in love with me. Modelling came as a hobby more than a passion. My passion was photography, be it in front of the camera or behind it. I don’t have a camera as of yet but I’ve had the privilege of learning from my photographer friends. Currently, I work with Reign Entertainment and Magazine International, founded by Emmanuel Kom, which will be having its first ever Festival on May 5 and 6 this year.

Why don’t you model as much as you used to?
Firstly, there haven’t been any gigs for me as much as when I started. Also, I now spend most of my time at school and attending to my clients. I’ve been doing nails for the past year and it seems to be working out just fine for me. Not to say modelling took a lot of my time before but at the moment I have other things on my plate and modelling hasn’t had anything for me quite some time now. In this world, when one thing is not working, find something else and make it work instead of sitting around and waiting on the impossible. Otherwise, I haven’t really ditched modelling; it’s just not here right now.
