MBABANE – As the Voice of the Church (VOC) Radio Station goes the English way, doors of aspiring radio announcers are being opened.

The radio station has three vacant positions for radio announcers who will be in charge of the English Channel. VOC is expected to officially launch its English Channel in May.

The Manzini Christian radio station has invested over E500 000 towards purchasing seven transmitters, which will allow them to have a second channel.

Currently, the radio station is known for broadcasting only in the Siswati language. The Siswati Channel is known as VOC 1.
The English Channel will be known as VOC 2 and only English will be used during the production.

The station, headed by Reverend Zachariah Mthethwa, is looking for three radio personalities to be the hosts.
The station, which will be live between 5am and 9pm daily, is looking for people who are well-versed with English and also who happen to be entertainers when behind the microphone.

“Time has come for this Christian radio station to grow to a second channel,” said the station’s National Director.
He said since their target audience were the youth and those who did not speak or properly understand Siswati. They felt they should look for dynamic people who would be able to create their own listenership.

“We discovered that the station has a high number of listeners, something we are happy about. This is one of the reasons we felt having another channel would be a good thing. More lives will be saved,” he said.
He added, “We will be looking for energetic radio announcers, who will be able to create an atmosphere that will make people believe in the station”.

The director said the public would be told during the launch on how the station would operate.
“All I can say is that we are working towards making sure that the operations resume without a problem. We want the station to reach an international standard,” he said.
