MBABANE – They became the ‘911’ of the night. The Solani’s crew immediately and effectively saved Saturday’s show, dubbed the ‘Easter Shutdown,’ which almost saw none of the headliners making  it to the show.
While being advertised, promoters promised fun lovers the ‘Akanamali’ hit maker, SunEl Musician, together with South African DJs Sphectacular and Naves to headline the show.

At the end, revellers only got to experience SunEl Musician together with Swaziland’s Sifiso ‘S Tone’ Magagula, making Sphectacular and Naves a no - show. In fact, it is Solani’s that paid the ‘Bamthathile’ hit maker to eventually perform at the last minute.
Sphectacular and Naves are together known as The Kings of the Weekend.

Bookings

Solani’s Entertainment’s Mbekezeli Dla-mini clearly stated that it was Solani’s that rescued the show, as they had only provided the venue but the artist bookings and everything else, including promos, were done by Bullie Megatainment.
This is one of the latest entertainment stables in the local scene.
“Solani’s would like to clearly and blatantly state that the failure of the two major headliners, South Africa’s Sphectacular and Naves, to not show up is not our fault.

‘‘As people know Solani’s is a shisanyama and entertainment place, meaning people or promoters are permitted to book the place or host events inside the vicinity at a certain fee,” said Dlamini.
He said the entertainment entity was approached by Bullie Megatainment to host a show slated for the Easter weekend, Saturday, March 31, 2018. They were approached by Bullie Megatainment’s directors Christian Sishwashwa and Tsidi Lepheto.

Dlamini said the headliners had to pull out at the last minute due to misunderstandings the promoters had with the artists regarding payments.
“Because we are very loyal to our customers, we took it upon ourselves to pay SunEl Musician’s balance, hospitality, accommodation and we had to hire a private shuttle for him,” explained Dlamini.

Apologised

He further apologised for any confusion that was caused on the day.
“We are just glad we managed to get at least one of the artists at the time we did,” he said.
Efforts to get  comment from Bullie Megatainment proved to be futile as their phones were not available.

In the meantime, the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) said promoters should declare with their office before hosting a show.
“This is to curb such problems. Tickets which are sold and have our logo or stamp means buyers are safe. Otherwise, such issues are becoming recurrent because promoters do not declare to us,” said Dlamini.
