SWAZILAND’S ‘TSELEMAJAHA’ SCOOPS AWARD AT SAFTAS

MBABANE – He is umbutfo with an international influence, whose talent has been recognised by the most respected entities in film.

Swazi born Ntobeko ‘Tselemajaha’ Dlamini has made the country and African continent proud by winning the South African Film and Television Awards (SAFTAs) 2018 for Best Achievement in Cinematography for South African series known as ‘Ring of Lies’, where he is employed as a cinematographer.

Dlamini  won the award during the glamorous occasion held on Thursday night where he was competing against other highly acclaimed South African Mzansi Magic series ‘High Rollers’ and ‘The Queen’. He is being celebrated for being one of two Africans to win at SAFTAs, the other being Tonga Isango, who won the Golden Horn award for Best Achievement in Cinematography.
Dlamini confirmed his acheivement and said he could not elaborate any further at the moment.

“For me, this is an affirmation that I am still great in my field. Also, I am happy and honoured to put Swaziland on the map,” said Dlamini.

According to the SAFTAs,  Cinematography (also called Direction of Photography), is the science or art of motion-picture photography by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically or by means of an image sensor. Cinematography is used in many fields of science and business as well as for entertainment purposes and mass communication.
