MBABANE – The nomination process has been done and it’s time for the nominees to be announced.

The Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) is expected to announce a list of over 160 artists who have been nominated for the NACA 50/50 Awards.

The nominees will be unveiled on Friday night during an event to be held at the Happy Valley Hotel.
Artists, their managers and the public were given an opportunity to nominate their own choice of artists who would participate in the awards.

The free nomination process came to an end last Friday. SNCAC had partnered with Swazi Mobile in making sure that the nomination process becomes a success. A free SMS line  7005050 was provided where one could nominate their favourite artists.
SNCAC has confirmed that the nominees would be announced on Friday. The council under the leadership of Stanley Dlamini unveiled 40 categories and under each of the categories, there has to be four nominees.

Once the nominees have been availed, voting lines will then be opened so to allow the public to vote for their choice of artist. The awards will be held on April 28.
Dlamini said he was aware that most artists were keen to partake  in the awards.

“We have been working on the nomination process and I must say  it all went well. We were impressed with the response,” he said.
He added, “The only reason why we decided to allow the people to nominate for free was because we want all artists to get a chance of participating. As we have been mentioning, we are celebrating a milestone of 50 years of independence and the King’s 50th birthday this year,” he added.
