MBABANE – Thank God we do not go around with the scars that we have endured in our past all over our face.

Abuse comes in many forms. It can be physical, mental and sexual or a combination of horrors. Nomzamo ‘Zamo’ Dlamini, in an interview with Ayanda Ncwane, who is the wife of the late gospel star Sfiso Ncwane, opened up about her shocking experience in the hands of an abuser on the talk show ‘Tea Talk and Tissues’.  Zamo as she is affectionately known said she has had her fair share of physical abuse from someone she was once in a relationship with.

The talented singer who is a member of Joyous Celebration and a solo afro soul singer was featured on the show, where she explained where her hit single ‘ Tinyembeti’ really originates from.
The lyrics talk about a woman’s heartbreak and patience while being ill-treated in a relationship.

Dlamini said the abuse happened back when she was 17 years old just after completing high school when she met and fell in love with a man whom she did not identify on the show. Of course he treated her like a princess  for the first year of the relationship, but when she was 18 years old things changed and that’s when he started to physically assault her.

She went into detail about how the man would get angry for no reason and brutally hit her. “One day I asked him why he was hitting me, and he simply said, It’s because I am beautiful.” This showed me just how insecure he was. He also took advantage of my vulnerability as I had lost my father when I was very young and I needed male attention,” said Zamo.
The songstress told a shocked Ncwane how he almost threw her off a balcony in an attempt to end her life. Narrating her story the songbird talked about how in the early days of her career she was always looking over her shoulder.

Famous

“I was already famous in Swaziland , winning awards and one day I took him to a show and he  got angry at the fact that I had hugged a male fan.
“On the way home the beating was just brutal,” she added.
During the interview, the host, Ncwane asked her how she broke things off with the man she was in the relationship with.
