MBABANE – The hospitality industry in the country is opening its mind and arms to the development of cultural activities.

AFROTIM Sibebe Resort has shown its humanitarian side by hosting the very first Sibebe Mountain Challenge Culture Day which for now, will also include a Sibhaca Competition.

The launch happened last week at Molly’s House of Grill’s.
The dates of the competition, however, have not been revealed.
According to Tall Tree Management’s Larry Mhlanga, who is part of the organising committee, this competition will be held annually at Hhukwini community where different Sibhaca groups will be performing against each other.

“During this competition, the champions will go home with a cow. This competition will not only be for the Hhukwini community but also other communities will be able to register for the competition. This is to promote culture and expose the beauty of Sibebe Resort,” said Mhlanga.

Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) CEO Stanley Dlamini, who graced the launch, applauded the great work that Sibebe Resort is about to do for the community and the country. He also mentioned that this project should be featured as a legacy for the 50/50 celebration.

“This project is definitely a tourist attraction, because the competition will happen on the second biggest rock in the world, showcasing beautiful scenery.
“Also, we are grateful to Sibebe Resort to make it their mandate to create beautiful memories for future generations,” he said.

Hhukwini Member of Parliament Saladin Magagula said they are very proud of AFROTIM Sibebe Resort because they are engaging the community in activities.
“The project and the resort itself will create job opportunities for the community members,” said Magagula.
