MBABANE – Festivals are meant to celebrate arts and culture diversity and Alliance Française de Mbabane is all about that.

This year’s Francophonie Festival, which is hosted by Alliance Française de Mbabane, will be held on March 17 - 24 in a series of events. This event is international as each year in March the world celebrates the Francophonie week in a quest to promote the French language and culture throughout the world.

The Francophonie week also celebrates cultural diversity by promoting Swazi culture throughout the different events.
Celebrations will start with the Schools’ Festival which will take place at MDS High School Hall from March 17- 23. Schools will celebrate the French language through different performances including drama, poetry music and more.

Pupils will have the opportunity to experience and share the Francophonie spirit, but most of all they will be given a chance to share their creative talents and perform.

Alliance Française management said there would be free entrance to the main festival which will take place on the March 24 at the Alliance Française in Mbabane (behind the Ministry of Education) from 12pm- 5pm.

“Swazi culture will be the focus of the day as many Swazi singers and musicians will perform, the Alliance Française of Mbabane which is well known for its support to many of the most famous Swazi artists and events such as Bholoja, Rooted Soulz and Pelepele dance group,” said Audrey Moisan  the Coordinator for the Francophonie Festival.

This year again, the festival will offer the winner of the rap contest the chance to perform at MTN BUSHFIRE Festival  2018.
Festival goers will also have access to a local craft market and will be able to taste international food and enjoy art craft from all over Swaziland.

For the second time, Total Swaziland is the sponsor and they have been joined by Royal Swazi Spa, Transmagnific and Swazi Candles.
