MBABANE – The Voice of The Church’s (VOC) dream has become a reality.

The Manzini Christian radio station’s  dream of having two channels for local listeners is no longer a dream as the station has raised a sum of E400 000 for this project.

The station needed a sum of E500 000 towards purchasing seven transmitters in order for them to be able to own the second channel.
Currently, the radio station is known for broadcasting only in the Siswati language. The Siswati Channel is known as VOC 1.

The station under the leadership of Zakhariah Mthethwa hosted a fundraising drive where they were able to raise a sum of E400 000.
On top of that, a private sponsorship from a businessman who preferred anonymity, has since made an offer to buy the station two of the transmitters.

Each transmitter costs E50 000  to purchase, while charges for the  technicians who will be responsible of fitting the transmitters are estimated at around E10 000.

“It has always been our prayer that we have an English channel and I am glad to say that out mission has been accomplished,” he said.
He added, “We are expecting the first consignment of transmitters to arrive in February next year,” he said.
He said it was time for the Christian radio station to grow and the growth should be seen in the New Year.

“We hope to have the second channel up and running by April next year. We have done everything that has to be done in order for the station to grow in the coming year,” he said.

The national Director thanked all those who have been supporting the station and  gave praise to church leaders and gospel artists for offering their material to the station.
