MBABANE – Model extraordinaire Coralee Vilakati is off to the United States of America.

Just two weeks after rocking the Soweto Fashion Week runway, Vilakati bagged the title of being Miss Fashion Week. She was chosen in the midst of hundreds of hopefuls who were competing to represent the whole of SADC during the finale of Miss Fashion Week Modelling Contest.

The competition to be held in the USA-based Miss Fashion Week, will include Africa in auditions for the Miss Fashion Week modelling contest.

Menes Konsult in partnership with Europlaw Group, which are the sole owners of Miss Fashion Week Africa model search in Africa, called upon all aspiring models to take part in the competition together with those from the rest of the world.


They stand to win cash prizes, modelling contracts, access to international modelling agencies, fashion designers, photographers, fashion bloggers, publishers and other relevant contacts in the industry.

Vilakati was chosen among five winners from this competition and she is the only Swazi citizen who qualified.

The winners will proceed to the grand finale in Florida, USA. The five finalists from Africa will receive the following goodies: - US$1 000 each, (plus opportunity to win the US$5 000 grand finale cash prize), appearances at the world famous New York Fashion Week, modelling contracts, brand ambassador contracts, access to international modelling agencies, fashion designers, photographers, magazines, media bloggers, publishers, and other relevant contacts.

Vilakati said; “I am more than excited to take on this phase in my modelling career. A lot of people have mixed conceptions about the industry but I have managed to stick to what I believe in and what I consider to be my dream. I am hoping that in this next endeavour in my modelling career I will change the lives of young girls who hope to take on the same path, as a result I am seeking assistance from the public or any corporates to help contribute towards my trip to the USA.”
