SOUL BROTHERS GIVE ELECTRIC SEVEN HOUR PERFORMANCE

EZULWINI – The rain tried but failed to stop what was termed as one of the strongest and most powerful performanced of South African mbhaqanga music legends Soul Brothers.

Just befoe their main performance was about to start at 9pm the rain started pouring heavily. It was as if the showers were welcoming the group led by Moses ‘Blackmose’ Ngwenya on stage. This was at the live show held at the Boma Restaurant at Timbali Lodge on Saturday night. As they performed their second song it stopped raining. The group gave what was  classified by those in attendance,  as one of  their best performances throughout the night.The show was part of the group’s 40 year celebration in the music industry. Before the main show, the group hosted mini-workshops and shows which lasted for one week. The restaurant was fully packed with over 500 music lovers coming together to dance to mbhaqanga music.

The groups fans came in their numbers as they knew that Soul Brothers would give them soul music. Soul Brothers did not disappoint as it was at its best giving out a seven hour performance. Mbhaqanga music lovers came as early as 6pm as they wanted to have a better view of the stage. Just after 7pm, heavy rain started to flow. However, this did not stop the fans from coming to the venue. The organisers of the show made sure that the rain does not affect the group’s performance as they pitched a tent within the stage.The group’s pianist Moses ‘Black Mose’ Ngwenya went on stage and greeted everyone who attended. He then said music lovers should expect a powerful show that would continue throughout the night. Fans were already singing some of the songs they wanted the group to perform.

As he went on the stage, the fans started singing some of the group’s songs as they welcomed them. Among the songs they sang was the one titled ‘Mama KaSibongile’ which proved to be a hit on the night.
It is as if music lovers were waiting for Soul Brothers to be on stage before arriving as some of them started coming in while the group was singing its first song.
By midnight, the venue was full. The music lovers danced throughout the night and they seem to enjoy every minute of the show, as it came to an end just after 5am.
