MBABANE – The late night driving was worth it.

After events that occurred last week Friday, where Smallz the Comedian was scheduled to perform during the Three Kings of Funny Show at Happy Valley, the local comedian has come back home with an award that has automatically earned him the spot of being part of the top five in next year’s International Delphic Comedy Championships. The Pint sized local comedian whose real name is Lungelo Gina was given an opportunity at the International Delphic Comedy Championships to take part in this year’s competition which took place on September 29 and 30. The event was held at the International Delphic Comedy Championships in Johannesburg where an esteemed panel of judges selected the winner on the evening. There was a people’s choice award; members of the public made their choice through an SMS vote.

The local comedian came back home with a certificate of participation and an award. The National Delphic Council of South Africa was launched in the Kingdom last year at  Sibane Hotel in the presence of His Royal Heritage Zolani Mkhiva who was introduced by Tallica and described as a phenomenal individual who has had the privilege to be Nelson Mandela’s poet laureate. During the launch, Mkhiva explained that the Delphic games are arts and culture championships which provide a platform for artists who showcase their talents and also for artists who sell their excellence. He further went on to say that this platform allowed artists to constructively compete while ensuring the mainstreaming of arts and culture in society.

Smallz, when contacted by the Entertainment Desk relating to this opportunity said that he was ecstatic to be representing the country and also expanding his horizons in as far as his comedy was concerned.
“Year 2017 has been a busy year for me as I have been involved in a lot of projects; I am already in South Africa as I left on Monday. I am currently busy with interviews leading to the championships. However, I will be back in the country on Friday to take part in the Three Kings of Funny show which is an initiative by fellow local comedians then fly back to Johannesburg to take part in the championships,” said the comedian.
The winners will be announced on the night and the gold medal champion will go through to compete against international comedians from across Africa and the globe. Top three champions will receive a gold, silver and bronze medal and every contestant in the championship will receive a certificate of participation.
