MBABANE – A lifetime opportunity is set to unveil for three local opera music singers.

Three lucky singers stand to be featured in the Mpumalanga Praise Volume II recording. Mpumalanga Praise is a fast growing choir under the leadership of Sipho ‘Big Fish’ Makhabane.
In May, the choir launched its first project during a show held at the Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre in Manzini. Volume II will be recorded at the Banquet Hall in Middelburg on September 9.
Makhabane is currently looking for three Swazi male opera singers who will be featured during the recording.

The three will each have solos as they are expected to introduce the choir.  Makhabane said   he wanted nothing but the best singers as they would be the main introduction item during the show.
“I have noted that there is great talent in the country. There are musicians who have not been identified and it is one of the reasons I thought I should invest my time in uprooting some of the talent,” he said.
Makhabane said after attending the SwaziBank Schools Choral Music Competition finals, he thought it would be a good idea to have opera singers introducing Mpumalanga Praise during the recording.

“I know that a lot of people will not understand what I am doing but I can assure you that this is going to be nothing but the best recording. The opera set will be one of the night’s highlights,” he said.
Makhabane mentioned that there would be no auditions for the opera singers but instead they would be headhunted.

“I will be working hand in hand with the Swaziland National Choral Music Association to get the best opera singers in the country,” he added. He further added that if there was anyone who believed in themselves, he would be more than willing to assess them. “As I mentioned earlier, we are looking for nothing but the best singers,” he said.
Makhabane said preparations of the recording had already started .

Bheki Maziya, Swaziland National Choral Music Association (SNCMA) Public Relations Officer (PRO), said as an association they were happy to hear that Makhabane had decided to merge gospel and choral music.
“The news that Makhabane is looking for choral music singers is good. For us as an association it shows that people do take note of the good work we are doing,” he said.
Maziya said they were willing to help Makhabane in the process of finding good singers, adding that they would also be looking out for the best singers to be  part of the project.
