MBABANE – Promoting local talent is what all entertainment houses in Swaziland thrive for and Swazi TV is providing just that platform.

Swazi TV is in a mission of adding local programmes that will cater for the viewers who have always been complaining that the station did not cover much ground when it comes to local production.
The station has since introduced two locally produced programmes. The programmes produced by a locally independent production company, Lakitsi Productions are gospel and educational programmes.

The gospel programme is known as ‘Emaziyoni Ayadvumisa’. This is live traditional Zion programme which is screened every Sunday at 8am. The programme will have 26 episodes and will continue until December.

On the show, Zion church choirs and groups are given an opportunity of showcasing their talent and also promote their latest albums.
The second programme is known as ‘Home Learning’. This is an educational programme which seeks to help pupils as they prepare for their classes.
The programme is hosted by professional teachers who normally give tips to the pupils on subjects which include Mathematics, English and Science.

The programme is normally screened on Monday until Saturday.
On the same episodes, the teachers also get to give the pupils tips on how to pass when they write examination papers.
Nomcebo Malinga, Swazi TV’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) said they were trying by all means to improve the local content and it was one of the reasons why they were introducing localised programmes.

“Thanks to Lakitsi Production who has agreed to partner with Swazi TV and make sure that Swazis get what they deserve,” she said.
Malinga urged the public to watch these programmes saying they will not regret why they spared their time. “The introduction of these programmes is to simple cater for the needs of our viewers,” she said.

She said this was just the beginning promising to add more programmes as time continues.
“All I can say is that as a station we are working hard towards satisfying some of the needs of the viewers.”
