MBABANE - Local chorister Prosper Makhanya is taking centrestage in as far as the choral music industry is concerned.

The soloist is expected to lift the country’s flag high at the Berlin Orchestra Academy in Germany.
Makhanya is expected to leave the country in June for Germany where he would be enrolling in music classes with other soloists from across the world.

He will be in Germany for a month and while there, he will get the opportunity of performing alongside other soloists, while also getting to know more about choral music and what is expected from a  soloist in a choir.

During the Standard Bank 2017 Choral Music Championship held on Sunday  May 7, 2017 at the University of Swaziland’s Sports Emporium Hall at Kwaluseni, Makhanya got an opportunity to render one of his songs which he will be singing in Germany.

Watching the performance was the Standard Bank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mvuselelo Fakudze, Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC), Board Chairperson Busisiwe Simelane and CEO Stanley Dlamini.
As Makhanya was singing most of those who attended appreciated his vocals, saying he was a great soloist. He only sang one song which was given a standing ovation by the audience .

Soon after his performance, the day’s programme director Mzwakhe ‘Tjovitjo’ Khumalo took time to tell the audience who Makhanya was.
He told the audience that Makhanya had been fully involved in music since childhood, as he competed in the SwaziBank Schools Choral Music Competition while still a pupil. He then mentioned that that the chorister will be leaving for Germany.

Khumalo then urged the choral music lovers to support Makhanya as he will not be representing himself but the country at large.
Most of those who attended the festival wished Makhanya a good luck wishing him a successful trip and a good stay while in Germany.
