MBABANE – He continues to break records by putting Swazi music ahead of even his South African competitors.

Sands has once again made a huge impact in South Africa after having the most listened to song ‘Tigi’ in all SA radio stations. Radio Monitor SA last week revealed on their Twitter page that the local superstar’s ‘Tigi’ single was the most heard song across all South African radio stations with a whopping 34 million impacts.

Despite not making the much anticipated South African Music Awards nomination as expected by fellow Swazis, Sands is breaking records many of his counterparts can only dream of.
“Well done on having the most heard song on South African radio this week (last week) with over 34 million impacts,” the radio monitor page posted on Sands’s Twitter page.

Sands welcomed this news with grace and excitement, thanking his South African supporters for the honour.
The ‘Tigi’ hit maker has been touring South Africa and headlining shows in the neighbouring country. He has been invited to make appearances on popular television shows due to the success of his single.

His local fans were also ecstatic about this latest achievement, adding how much it compensated for the SAMA nomination that the Swazi artist did not get, with most fans suspecting that due to the fact that he is not South African he may have not had eligibility. This again was mere speculation by his local fans as the selection criteria have not been confirmed to be based on citizenship.
Previously in 2014 Tlale Makhene who is a Swazi artist won a SAMA award and hopes are still alive that perhaps next year Sands will make the cut for the nominations.
