MBABANE – Hip hop heads are in for magnificent and magical Hipnotik Festival in 2017 as promised by Swazi Jive, with this year’s theme being ‘The Magic Returns’.

For the first time since the inception of the festival, this year will be different as it will now be a two-day event instead of just the one day show. The festival will start on Friday, July 7 to Saturday July 8 and fans can expect a mind blowing experience at Swaziland’s biggest festival once again.
The festival will be hosting its sixth edition under the Swazi Jive entertainment stable.

Sakhile Nkambule, who is the founder of Swazi Jive said that it was their way of celebrating the growth of the urban culture and love for hip hop music, which is why they chose the theme ‘The Magic Returns.’

“One of the things that inspired this theme has been the journey taken by Swazi Jive over the past five years, bringing our fans and supporters the biggest hip hop festival with Hipnotik. Last year as we celebrated our anniversary, we appreciated just how much support we received,” he said.
Nkambule said the Hipnotik brand is growing faster than initially anticipated and although it excites Swazi Jive to be able to deliver more for their supporters, Nkambule has revealed that it has come with challenges.

While Hipnotik 2016 was the biggest, for the first time in three years it was reported by Swazi Jive that the festival made one of the biggest net losses, something which Swazi Jive team accepted as a learning curve.

“Swazi Jive would therefore like to assure loyal fans and other stakeholders that the Hipnotik Festival will return bigger and better this year. The company is in the final stages of negotiation with a major potential title sponsor.

The Government of Swaziland has also committed itself to further support the entertainment company this year alongside the Swaziland Procurement Agency. Further details will be announced in due course,” Nkambule revealed.
