MBABANE – After Miss Swaziland Linda Hutchinson’s dream of attending the Miss World Beauty Pageant was shattered, she can now feel compensated as Pageant SD is flying her to Jamaica to attend the Miss Legacy International Beauty Pageant finals.

Pageant Swaziland (SD), the mother body of all beauty pageants in the country and the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture (SNCAC) are busy making final preparations to send the queen to this international pageant.

The Miss Legacy finals are scheduled for May this year, on a date to be announced.
Pageant SD, which is under the leadership of Catrien Potgieter, has already alerted the organisers of the pageant on their interest of sending a Swazi representative.

“After we failed to make it to the Miss World Beauty Pageant, we then looked at other international pageants. There were a number of pageants that we were interested in but the Miss Legacy committee responded positively to this one,” said Potgieter.
She mentioned that at first they wanted the queen to be part of the participants competing in Miss World but because of reasons beyond their control it became impossible.

“We did not get any responses from Miss World up until today. Since there are other pageants we were looking at, we had to take the Miss Legacy Pageant,” she said.

Pageant SD had earlier in the year announced that Miss Swaziland would participate in the Miss World Pageant but former director Vinah Mamba–Grey made it clear that Swaziland would never be part of the international pageant.
