MBABANE – It got incredibly awkward on the streets when a radio host referred to Woman’s Day as ‘Mother’s Day’ yesterday.

It all started when SBIS 2 Radio DJ Bobo Dlamini told his listeners that they must cherish their mothers as it was Mother’s Day, accompanying his statement with a melody that he ‘dedicated’ to all the women in the world.
The observant public did not take it lightly and lashed out at the dj on social media, making fun of the whole situation causing it to trend among social media users.

August 9 is known as ‘Women’s Day’ and it is officially a national holiday in South Africa.

Tirelessly

‘‘The public holiday pays homage to women, mothers, wives, sisters and daughters who fought tirelessly against the tyranny of the Apartheid government.
“SBIS guys, cela nitjele Bobo kutsi it’s Women’s Day not Mother’s Day. Thank you in Advance,” read a message that was passed on the famous social media sphere, WhatsApp. People further said that he has embarrassed the country as South Africa will now make a joke out of his statement.

Women’s Day is an inspiration of political strength, female solidarity and inner fortitude, the celebrations in South Africa are a reminder of the great women who helped mould South Africa and the trailblazing women who continue to lead the country forward.
