GLAMOUR AT MULTICHOICE ANNUAL END-OF-YEAR MEDIA PARTY
EZULWINI – Gigi’s Restaurant at the Royal Swazi Sun was turned into a glamorous black and gold themed venue for the MultiChoice annual end-of-year media party.
This year’s theme was ‘Oscar Night’, a concept taken from one of the biggest and most glamorous Hollywood events that takes place annually in the United States of America.
Since MultiChoice is all about bringing the best films on DStv locally, the ‘Oscar Night’ theme was just perfect as it aligned well with quality film and television.
The event, which was scheduled to start at exactly 7pm, eventually began at 8:30pm due to the fact that most of the invited media personalities did not keep time.
MultiChoice Swaziland Public relations officer Dumsile Masuku, dressed in a pink ballerina style cocktail gown, welcomed the guests, stating that it was best to start the activities even though more invited guests were on their way.
Appreciate
“We have been waiting patiently and we appreciate all those who kept time but now, since it is an hour into the stipulated time, its best we start off the night. Tonight is about celebrating all the media houses and appreciating all that they have done to support MultiChoice Swaziland.
Tonight is about strictly the journalists and saying here is to a great end to 2015 and a beautiful beginning to 2016,” said Masuku.
She then introduced MultiChoice General Manager Phumi Drummond, who welcomed the journalists, and praised them for a great working relationship.
“We have had a great year whereby we interacted with the different media houses, not just with simple press releases but engaging with them one on one. We have had international trips where we would invite a journalist from each media house to come and experience the diversity that is MultiChoice, as we are all over the African continent,” said Drummond.
Since this was not a night of speeches but that of enjoying five-star gourmet food and drinks, Drummond gave way to afro soul singer Sands, who mesmerised the guests with his vocal abilities.
His performance was, however, rudely interrupted by the constant power cuts which threatened to ruin the night’s festivities as they were very persistent. Every other 10 minutes the power would go off and be back on after two to three minutes, however, the guests kept calm and enjoyed the relaxed evening of mingling with their counterparts.
Present during the event were media houses, Swazi TV, Channel Swazi, Times of Swaziland and The Swazi Observer.
