MZIMPOFU – Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) CEO John Mazibuko put his administrative duties on hold to focus on a shooting competition yesterday.

The shrewd sports administrator joined several shottists in pursuit of silverware during a national shooting competition at Mzimpofu outside Mafutseni in the Manzini region.

Mazibuko was a little bit rusty as he competed for the first time since the revival of the   Swaziland Rifle Association late last year.
His best score was from 10 metres as he shot a score of 36 out of 50.
He carded a total score of 140 out of 250.

Mazibuko acknowledged that he needed to practise more often to find his rhythm.
“One has to spend more time at the ranges to improve. I hope to improve if such events continue to take place.
“I have to reunite with my former colleagues at Central Bank who are part of the tournament.”

The shottists were once again timed and shots were fired between one and two minutes, depending on the distance from the marked target.  Shooting was from seven, 10, 15, 20 and 25 metres.
The sport’s secretary, Sifiso Mtsetfwa, was impressed with the attendance as over 30 competitors were part of the event.
He noted that the interest in the sport was growing.
