MBABANE – Finals to the 2009 All Africa Poker Tournament are around the corner.
All the Action is set to unfold from November 19 - 22 at the Pigg’s Peak Hotel and Casino. Poker pros, amateurs and fans alike will gear up for one of the greatest poker extravaganza in Africa.

This was confirmed by Bonsile Mkhabela, Piggs Peak Casino Marketing Officer.
The tournament is considered one of the richest poker tournaments in Southern Africa with a pool of E3.5 million which draws the veritable who’s who of poker celebrities.

The star studded tournament features Danny K, Ray Rahme, Ryan Brauer, Mel Banfield and Supersport presenter Neil Andrews – to name a few.

Prestigious

The winner gains the prestigious title of All Africa Poker Champion and walks away with a cool E1 million.
The defending champion, Wessel Jacobs, will also be there in an attempt to make his wins two in a row.
Mkhabela further said this was the 19th All Africa Poker Tournament to be hosted at Piggs Peak Casino, which proudly boasts a strong heritage as staging the very first poker tournament of its kind in Southern Africa back in February 2005.

“George Kramvis took the initial title and the prize pool of E250 000 that year,” she said.
The All Africa Poker Tournament has lured big name international players like John Tabatabai and Luke Trotman over the years.
This tournament is renowned for taking its winning players to participate in well-known international tournaments, such as the World Series of Poker (WSOP) in Las Vegas, Aussie Millions and the World Poker Tour boot camp (WPT).

Tournament

Last year All Africa Poker Tournament hosted the 2008 All Africa Poker Celebrity Charity Challenge.  Piggs Peak Casino donated an additional E50 000 to the Pigg’s Peak Aids support group, on behalf of the then Deputy Minister of Regional Development and Youth Affairs, Hlobisile Ndlovu, who is now Minister for Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs.

Mkhabela  said players who make it through all the shuffling and dealing to the final table, are assured of fantastic winnings that cascade down from the jackpot E1 million to substantial second and third place earnings of E600 000 and E425 000 respectively, continuing to 10th position who walks off with E125 000. She invited everyone to take part in this exciting event.
