MBABANE – To ensure quality, the LOL Comedy show organisers will stage a show where they will select the best of the best for the finals to take place next month.

The selection show is set for Friday March 13 at the Theatre Club and will be officiated by the Swaziland National Council of Arts and Culture CEO Stanley Dlamini and AMICAAL Director Rudolf Maziya.
LOL Comedy show Public Relations Officer Larry Mhlanga confirmed the event and said they had already started preparations.

“Initially we wanted to have only five contestants in the finals but judging from the talent that we have seen, we might be forced to have seven or eight which means about five or four will not make it,” Mhlanga said.
After conducting regional auditions, the organisers ended up with 12 contestants, which is why they decided on the selection show.
“All the 12 contestants that we have are super talented so the selection show is one that is worth attending,” he said.
Tickets to the selection show are already out and cost E50.

Mhlanga mentioned that only 80 tickets have been printed and encouraged comedy and art lovers to ensure that they purchase them early.
When asked why they chose the said date, Mhlanga said it was a fascinating day because of various reasons including memories of him working together with the now Executive Director of the comedy show Macford Sibandze.
“People will remember that we also launched Kip Kip with Macford on Friday the 13th in 2006.

“So this is just to set the tone of the show, which is an intriguing but scary feeling when you are taxiing on a plane and it is about to take off and cruise,” he said jokingly.
The main day of the comedy show is April 1 and is set for the Happy Valley Hotel and Casino which is among the sponsors.
