MBABANE – At least 30 youth entrepreneurs from Hlatikhulu in the southern part of the country have undergone training under the Commonwealth Local Government Forum.

Junior Achievement (JA) Eswatini is behind the empowering programme. The Commonwealth Local Government Forum (CLGF) is a global local government organisation, bringing together local authorities, their national associations and the ministries responsible for local government in member countries of the Commonwealth. Their graduation signals that they are ready and have put together viable business plans that require funding for them to progress.

Congratulated

Speaking at the graduation ceremony this past Friday, JA Eswatini Executive Director, Phetsile Masilela congratulated the 30 participants for enduring the entire course. “Perseverance is important in these trainings. Staying focused and overcoming any challenges to succeed is what we are looking for,” said. This is one group that has seen all the participants completing. Masilela mentioned that the graduation marks the beginning of an entrepreneurial lifetime where all they will be doing will be aimed at improving their skills.  She encouraged the youth to prioritise their customers in all their business ventures.

Access

Masilela also brought to the youth’s attention the issue of access to finance. She emphasised that the business plan they have was not for accessing funds but their guiding tool in growing their businesses. She encouraged the youth to maximise every opportunity they get in pitching their winning business plans. Representing CLGF through the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development was Melusi Hlanze  who also congratulated the youth and emphasised government’s commitment in ensuring the youth is capacitated to take part in the nation’s economy recovery. Shiselweni is one region government has committed to assisting elevate the lives of youth through partnering with organisations such as JA Eswatini in the establishment of the Shiselweni Incubation Centre.
