MBABANE – ESEPARC has provisionally won the race to prepare a special economic zone strategy for the KMIII International Airport.

The Eswatini Economic Policy Analysis and Research Centre (ESEPARC) is a semi-autonomous entity that was established in 2008 through a joint funding arrangement between the Government of Eswatini and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF). The procuring entity is The Eswatini Civil Aviation Authority (ESWACAA), which is a statutory body that was established by the Government of the Kingdom of Eswatini through an Act of Parliament, the Civil Aviation Authority Act No.10 of 2009.

A special economic zone is an area in which the business and trade laws are different from the rest of the country. These include tax holidays. ESEPARC scored 82.01 per cent with a proposed contract price of E1 240 089 to make the cut ahead of two bidders. The other bidders included an American company styled IOS Partners and Eswatini’s GrowthMap. They both scored lower.
