MBABANE – A South African company styled Trafo Power Solutions is the preferred recipient for a multi-million Emalangeni EEC tender.

Eswatini Electricity Company (EEC) had issued a tender for the procurement of strategic power transformers. Trafo Power Solutions was a cut above the rest with a score of 85.51 per cent and a proposed contract price of E5 892 599.50. In total, at least two Eswatini companies and the same number from South Africa had shown interest in the tender. This is as per an intention to award notice which was posted on the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Agency (ESPPRA) website. The information was posted as per Section 45 (3) (b) of the Public Procurement Act No.7 of 2011.

“Following a competitive bidding process, notice is hereby given that a contract award decision has been reached by the approvals authority. “The contract award decision does not constitute a contract. All tenderers who submitted bids are hereby notified that a period of 10 working days is hereby allowed for submission of any application for reviews,” reads the posted information in part.
Meanwhile, Trafo Power Solutions was in the spotlight in May this year after reports suggesting that it had designed a dry-type transformer to function at minus 40⁰C temperatures at an altitude comparable to Everest’s base camp.
