NO CHANGE IN MARKET CAP, ALL-SHARE

MBABANE - The local equity market’s values reflected no movement in the market capitalisation.

Market capitalisation simply refers to how much a company is worth as determined by the stock market. It is defined as the total market value of all outstanding shares. The figures remained at around E4.301 billion both in March this year and the following month.  Even though there were three trades, none of them impacted the market capitalisation. According to the Eswatini Stock Exchange (ESE) report for the past month, year-on-year the market capitalisation realised a 13.57 per cent gain from e3.787 billion to E4.301 billion.

It was the same story regarding the all-share figures during the period under review. The ESE all-share Index between February and April this remained at 498.76, reflecting a zero per cent movement. Year-on-year, the all-share index increased by 13.57 per cent from 439.14 to 498.76. When it comes to capital gains comparison on equity prices, SBC Limited was said to be the trailblazer followed by RES Corporation, Inala, SEL and Nedbank. SWAPROP, Greystone Partners and Swazi Spa Holdings remained flat.

With regard to equity turnover, the past month had three trades which were from the sale of SEL and Nedbank shares, which collectively recorded a total value of E513 750, which was a 96.26 per cent decrease in equity turnover from March’s turnover of E13 744 970. Year-on-Year) value traded decreased by 64.25 per cent from E1 437 210 to E513 750 in April 2021.

Corporate

Meanwhile, as of the last day of the past month, total corporate bonds value stood at E1.325 billion. There were four bonds that commenced trading in the period under review. There were three bonds that matured in the period under review.  Year-on-year, government bonds marked a 7.77 per cent increase in the total value traded on the ESE, from E5.004 billion in April 2020 to E5.393 billion in the same period this year. Year-on-year, Corporate bond activity marked a 7.64 per cent increase in the overall total trading on the ESE, from E1.231 billion in April last year to E1.325 billion in April this year.
