MBABANE - Small acts, big outcomes.

This adage applies to the Business Women Eswatini women-inspired initiative – Vukani Bomake Project (VBP).

In an environment where a lot of business concepts and grand initiatives often do not see the light of day, the VBP are forging ahead with the textile-based project of manufacturing re-usable shopper bags which are already on sale at the major retail outlets country-wide. Barely six months after the beginning of this initiative, Vukani Bomake Project has achieved a milestone by reaching 100 000 bags produced by village women. This is literally going from rags to riches as they are using waste fabric from the factories in Matsapha Industrial Site. According to a correspondence shared to this publication, this would not have been possible without the support from the major retail outlets in the country.

“We’re are particularly thankful because these partnering outlets have taken it upon themselves to support these women as they understand the impact it has had on the quality of life in the families and the rural communities,” said Tokky Hou, who is Business Women Eswatini and a trailblazer in the textile industry.
