MBABANE – A 2016 Mercedes Actros Truck proved popular among bidders during a massive vehicles auction on Friday.

On behalf of WesBank, Buzzby Services sold 16 vehicles that were headlined by the Mercedes Truck. 

They went under the hammer at the WesBank Warehouse situated in Matsapha. 

There was a ‘fierce battle’ for the truck. 

The reserve price was E250 000, but it was eventually sold for a whopping E990 000.  

It was the most expensive vehicle sold on the day. There was another MAN truck which was also sold for E580 000. Offers had started from E400 000.

A 2014 Isuzu KB Double Cab, on the other hand, was sold for E180 000 from E140 000.

Manning the auction was Buzzby Services’ Walter Bennett. 

When he took to the podium around 10am, about 30 bidders had crammed the venue but he ensured social distancing was maintained.Other vehicles on offer included a Jeep Grand Cherokee which had a reserve price of E50 000, but was sold for E68 000. 

A JMC truck which is a non-runner had a reserve price of E50 000 but an offer of E30 000 was made.

All offers were subject to confirmation. Those who made the offers will know their fate before the end of the day.

Over E1.5 million was made from the auction but the exact figure could not be ascertained pending the confirmation of the offers.
