MBABANE – Swazi Auctioneers has won the Eswatini Revenue Authority (SRA) auctioneering services tender for the third consecutive time.

The revered auctioneers, who have been providing the same service to the authority since 2014,  were enlisted as the best evaluated tenderers according to results which were issued by the Eswatini Public Procurement Regulatory Authority. The record holders of the kingdom’s longest auction of movable goods, which lasted for more than 10 hours, scored 96 per cent during the tender evaluation exercise, which was undertaken in accordance with the Public Procurement Act of 2011.

There was no precise value of the tender but it was explained that in terms of the Act, it was announced that a period of 10 working days would be allowed for the submission of any application for review by tenderers before signing of the three-year contract. “The tender award decision does not constitute a contract,” clarified ESPPRA. According to the tender results, Swazi Auctioneers competed against Rexy’s Investments, which amassed 94 per cent during evaluation.

When asked to react on the tender results, Swazi Auctioneers Principal Auctioneer Sakhile Ndzimandze humbly asked all questions regarding the tender to be posed to the SRA.
It should be mentioned that the SRA has conducted a wide range of successful auctions which include, but not limited to the controversial Impunzi blankets auction which lasted for about a week, Casquip liquidation, Swazi Paper Mills, Illovo, Wesbank motor vehicles sale and disposal of Tycoon Dumisa Dlamini’s assets.

In the invitation to tender, SRA had mentioned that the scope of work for the services required included auction of vehicles, assorted office furniture, office equipment, electric stoves, geysers and many other items in accordance with the terms and conditions. It was explained that this would include movable and immovable property. The authority said the auctions, which could soon be undertaken by Swazi Auctioneers, would be conducted at any of SRA’s premises or at any other place agreed in advance by both parties. “Over and above the normal auction rules, the SRA reserves the right to place further conditions, including reserve prices and how purchased goods may be handled, used or otherwise handled by the buyer,” SRA explained.
