BIG BEND – Tough contest!

This best describes what bidders had to go through during the packed Ubombo auction that attracted by over 150 people on Friday. All the bidders seemed determined to own the farming heavy equipment and tractors which were up for grabs. The highlight of the auction was when Former Nkilongo Member of Parliament (MP) Trusty Gina out-bidded three people to buy a John Deere loader. The reserve price of the asset had been fixed at E500 000 but the bids rose until it was finally bought by Gina for E2.4 million.

Director of Swazi Auctioneers Sakhile Ndzimandze had to stop going about his duties for a moment as the bidders whistled and cheered soon after Gina successfully made her acquisition.
When asked what had prompted her determination to purchase the loader despite its steep price and tense competition from other bidders, Gina said the quality of the loader would add value to her business especially because it was still in good condition.

Effectively

The former legislator said the loader takes only 10 minutes to fill a truck with sugar cane, which effectively means she will now be able to fill 10 trucks with sugar cane within an hour.
“It was a good buy when you also take into account that it was maintained and serviced,” said Gina during the interview which was also interjected by an unidentified man who also congratulated Gina on her new asset. Quite a number of people who attended the auction made similar remarks to the effect that the competition was tough. Umoba’s Laurance Murton, who also bought a game loader among other items at the auction, also said he was ready to make bids up to E2 million for the loader, which he eventually bought for E1 020 000. The reserve price of the loader had been fixed at E500 000.

“I bought the loader at a very good price,” said Murton as he inspected the loader after making the acquisition. The auction lasted for about four hours as Swazi Auctioneers raked in the millions for Ubombo by attracting more bids.
