MBABANE – Innovation all the way.

This seems to be the new motto of registry of companies, which has introduced an online registration platform for businesses in Eswatini, established an electronic company verification system for financial institutions and recently availed a mobile tracking system for businesses. Registrar of Companies Msebe Malinga explained new businesses could now be registered online and be issued with an acknowledgement of company registration through simply accessing the direct link on https://www.gov.online.sz. Thereafter, company director(s) or their preferred representative should then submit documentation and proof of payment to the registry offices for filing to complete the process of registration.

These documents include, but are not limited to, Form J (document showing directors), Form C (document showing shares allocation in the business) and Memorandum of Association.
All these documents can be downloaded from the online registration web page.  “We are now down to 24-hour company registration and I am happy to announce that the acknowledgment of company registration can also be used to seek credit from all financial institutions,” said Malinga during a presentation at the Ease of Doing Business workshop convened at Happy Valley last week. Malinga has previously disclosed that plans are well underway to allow for payment of registration fees electronically and e-filing of company documents.
“The ultimate objective is to fully automate the entire process of registering a business and submission of essential documentation such as company renewal applications and annual returns,” Malinga explained.

The registrar also mentioned that they also have a tracking system that allows businesses to trace their company registration renewal dates. Malinga said businesses that may be interested in utilising this service should dial *468# on their mobile phones and provide details about their institution, which culminates in the issuance of a text message with the required information. Further, Malinga has previously disclosed that businesses seeking credit or opening a bank account at First National Bank (FNB) would also be verified electronically courtesy of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that has been entered into by the bank and registry department.
