SCC AUCTION SELLS ALL CARS

MBABANE – Despite the weak economy which leaves consumers with less disposable income, bidders bought all vehicles auctioned by the Swaziland Competition Commission (SCC) yesterday.

The bidders took advantage of the opportunity to own a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) and two Chevrolet Cruz sedans.
Duly instructed by the Swaziland Competition Commission, Swazi Auctioneers (Pty) Ltd, was able to dispose the three motor vehicles by public auction at the Golf Course Office Park, Mbabane, where SCC offices are located.

According to Swazi Auctioneers Sakhile Ndzimandze, the vehicles were all bought above their reserve price. The auctioneer said the weak economy played a role in the auction, as the public had minimal disposable income.

Despite that, Ndzimandze said they were able to sell all the vehicles – with the SUV, Chevrolet Captiva LT, being sold at E94 000. The Captiva Lt has an automatic transmission and was good running condition.

According to the auctioneer, it had cloaked about 140 000 kilometres (kms) on its mileage.
Another vehicle that was going under the hammer was a 2010 Chevrolet Cruz. It was sold at E40 000. The vehicle was in good running condition and had amassed 113 000km while it also has a manual transmission.

“I think the car having a new engine recently fitted, played a role in its bidding as it also needs minor attention due a dent on the rear left hand side.”

Auctioned

The third vehicle that was auctioned yesterday was a 2011 model Chevrolet Cruz, manual. It has recorded 108 000km on its clock. Ndzimandze said the vehicle was bought at E27 000, as it was also in a good running condition.

The auction was conducted at 10am yesterday at the SCC premises adjacent to the Mbabane Golf Course. Leading to the auction, bidders who were interested in participating in the auction were expected to pay a refundable deposit of E3 000 during registration at Swazi Auctioneers (Pty) Ltd Offices.
